Hi,

I was replacing my filter this month and am using disposable filter cartridges from the company "whisper" labeled Bio-Bag on the box. In the boxs comes a pack of carbon rocks, filter, and clip.

as i was filling up the filter bag with the carbon rocks and putting this into my filter i forgot to rinse the carbon rocks under watter to remove any carbon dust. Once i realized what i had done most of the carbon dust escaped into the tank with 4 mollies in it. Unfortunately i do not have a spare tank and would have to place to put them if i were to take them out of the tank.

The mollies so far seem to be swimming around and dont look to have any problems but its been 20 minutes since the accident.

Please i need some recommendations on what i should do.

So far i have done a 25% water change after i placed in the filter.

Thank you.

It shouldn't be a problem, the carbon isn't harmful to fish. The cloudiness isn't much different from a sand substrate that hasn't settled yet. It should settle & filter out in a few hours to a couple of days, depending on the filter & tank size.

If this is your only filter on the tank, and you replaced all the media, it's wise to float the old media inthe tank for a few days. This helps to keep your tank from going through a mini cycle.

BTW, welcome to TFF! :)
