Carbon and Melafix

Hi all, been treating my male dwarf gourami with some melafix for the past couple days since he's gotten a little bit of an ammonia burn on his lips while my tank is still cycling (yes, I konw dwarfs arent ideal for cycling). My question though is should I remove my carbon from my overhang filter when treating with melafix just like regular "medications"? Seeing as how melafix is oils and not drugs I'm unsure as to whether or not the carbon filter breaks melafix down. Anyone have experience with it?

My Melafix bottle tells me to remove the carbon while I am treating. (Just looked at bottle) HTH!

I believe it says on the bottle "for best results remove carbon".

I would remove it for best results.

humm, musta missed that... . very well, carbon comes out when I get home
