We all know there are rules of thumb for freshwater and salt water tanks and they both differ significantly. What about brackish tanks? What are the stocking levels of those like. Is one supposed to average out the freshwater and marine recommendations and that is the stocking level of a brackish tank. Curious to hear from anyone as there seems to be no charts and such to use as a guideline.

Brackish water holds less disolved oxygen than FW and brackish fish (many of which live in marine enviroments too) are often more sensative to nitrogen pollution than FW fish so i tend to stock brackish tanks on the light side. As you have said there are no stocking guidelines for brackish tank but working on a level that is slightly lower than FW should be fine.

Thank you very much, CFC. I do have good filtration with an Eheim ECCO 2236 and 2 penguin minis along with a Eheim powerhead to move around the dead zone stuff. I was sure that is was not as high as a FW and probably more than pure salt water. I won't be overstocking anyhow with what I have in the tank I have them in for now. Just curious around what level would be good. Thanks again.
