My fish have this white stuff on the edges of their fins and I'm pretty sure it's fungus. I've been treating it with pimafix for the past 2 or 3 weeks. I've done tons of waterchanges and gone through 1 1/2 bottles of pimafix but I just cant get rid of it completely.

What can I do?

You will need a med like maracyn.

Maracyn
Manufacturer: Mardel
A broad-spectrum antibiotic for gram-positive bacterial infections. For infections of columnaris (body fungus), fin and tail rot, popeye, gill disease, and secondary infections.
Active ingredient: Erythromycin.

Would it make sense for this to be bacterial since the time frame is 2-3 weeks? My experience with bacterial infections is they are lethal within a short time frame.

The tank is 55 gal and the fish are 2 3" red pacu and 3 3-4" pim pictus.

The pimafix seems to be keeping the fungus at bay but cant seem to eliminate it.

PS: I know the pacus will outgrow the tank, I'm prob getting a 180 gal when they get bigger

Make sure i isn't the other fish nipping the fins, plus yes the med has kept it at bay, but isn't clearing it up, as it needs a bacterial med like maracyn.
