Cant Find My Eel

OK so i had a peacock eel now for a couple months and recently went from a 29 gallon tank to a 75 gallon tank, after i transfered the eel in there he swam around and was easy to find hidden ender some decoration, about 1-2 weeks ago as i was cleaning my tank, i found him under a log i have, not today as i took all the decoration out and skimmed though the rocks the eel is no where to be found, i looked all through my decoration, logs, rocks, nothing, any suggestions on what happened or is the eel just not wanting to show itself and staying barried in the rock.

My Spiney's also used to vanish like this for weeks on end, & then suddenly reappear... I saw them going under the gravel with only the pointed end of their nose sticking out... Maybe this new tank of yours has less compact gravel and they burry themselves?
