can people post some pics of their tanks mainly with sand substrate and tell me the pros and cons of using different ones. i am really starting to get interested in sand as my substrate but there are a couple of things that worry me. firstly, if i add sand how long will it take the sand to settle and the water to go clear again? secondly can you still use a vacuum on the sand? and finally will my filter trap a lot of the sand until it settles?

my husband likes the look of gravel but im getting a little bored of the gravel thing.

are there any other probs with using sand?

thanks for that :) id seen that pic of your tank earlier today would love to see it when its all finished :) i think sand looks so much more natural in a fish tank no matter what kind of fish you keep :)

zero time if you use pool filter sand.
available from any swimming pool supplies shop :good:

I use pool filter sand in my 55 gallon cichlid tank and I love it because when the cichlids dig in the sand it settles right away and doesn't amke a mess.
