I have a 10g lightly brackish (1.005) setup with 10 Bumblebee gobies, and I saw candy stripe gobies at my lfs, would it be possible to have them in the tank?

If not, what is the min tank size for candy stripe gobies?

Are these Awaous flavus?

If so, these are freshwater gobies that will tolerate SG 1.005 but certainly don't need brackish water. Short lived, essentially annuals in the wild, so don't buy adults and certainly don't spend a huge amount of money on them. Beyond that, lovely animals. Give them sand: they dig right in, with just their eyes showing -- it's amazing to watch!

Cheers, Neale

Thanks Neale :good:

I'm not sure what they are, they are labelled as "butterfly" gobies but when I saw them I knew they were candy stripes. So would they we ok with BBGs? in the profile it says no small bottom dwellers, so not sure if BBGs count. Would they be ok in a 10g?

If they are Awaous flavus, they're fine with BBGs. They grow to about 10 cm or so, but are substrate sifters, and won't eat large prey. Probably a bit big for a 10 g, but that's your call. They're pretty happy-go-lucky fish. Mine became hand tame, and would swim onto my hand at the top of the tank and rest there, like mudskippers. Lovely fish. Shame they don't last long!

Cheers, Neale

PS. These are my specimens, male behide, female at front:
