Can You use ocean rock in normal tanks, not just cichlids? I only see it in cichlid tanks and was just wondering. Id like to put some in my dwarf puffer tank so was just wondering... -_-

Ocean rock is mostly comprised of calcium which will leach out in the tank, causing your PH and KH to rise. Great for african cichlids, not so great for most community fish.

What's ocean rock? Rocks/pebbles from the beach? I can't see you'll have a problem if that's what you mean, provided you clean them properly. Avoid limestone or sandstone though.

No i mean the whiteish rock you see in cichlid setups...you buy it at LFSs

Its got holes in it which i thought would be good for my puffers. You see them in BBG tanks too

i think you are talking about crushed coral. this is fine in a fw tank if you want the ph to be up in the 8's. it depends on what kind of fish you want to keep in it.

Are you talking about Texas Holey Rock? If that's it, it's limestone, and will raise your PH & KH.
