I was wondering if you can tell the difference between the female of each strain. In guppies, I found that they often just look gray or little colour

Phenotypically, you can't tell the difference. Only if the a female is carrying also the dominant traits, you'll be able to tell it because they'll show some markings on their body or in their fins. Otherwise, you can not tell the difference. They can differ genotypically ( but that's not visible from the outside).

MrsLurch has six females in a 30L and they’re indistinguishable apart from one having a bit of black in her fins. Four have been in a honeymoon suite with a stunning looking light blue-grey male. The fours kids look just like a random PAH Endler tank mix apart from a few black n blue types.
