ok so im about to set up my 29 gallon heavily planted tank (8 female bettas, 7 sparkling gouramis, and 7 cories) and this is the equiptment being used for it:

penguin bio wheel 150 filter
aquaclear 100 filter
c02 system
double tube lighting and single tube lighting (under a canopy)
40 pounds of eco complete
55 oz of laterite

what are your thoughts of the equiptment being used?
The tank will be supplied with 60 watts of lighting over 29 gallons which is slightly over 2 WPG. Do you think the reflectors on the lights are ok but would a DIY mylar reflector be worth the time?
I want a full spectrum light that is plain white, what brand of bulbs would you reccomend for me?

For plants I want 1 red and 1 green african tiger lotus, micro swords, java fern, red ludwiga (spelling) and lots of other plants that i havent decided on yet. What fertlizers would you reccomend for me? Im new to planted tanks so could you give specific names of all the fertilizers i will need?

Thank you!

yeah ive been reading around and everyones been saying that seachem ferts are the best, but I should have re-worded my question. My question was what nutrients are essential? (ie potassium, iron, ect ect.)

I do not see the need for laterite with the eco-complete. I just read a article about betta's in Aquarium magazine. I do not think they recommend putting even female bettas together due to fighting and mutual hostility.

95 lbs is way to much gravel for a regular 29g it will only

need about 40lbs of substance and your co2 is not really

worth it for a 29 i would just do a DYI co2 it alot cheaper

and works just as well.

where did you come up with 95 pounds of gravel?????????????

ooooo i think you saw 55 lbs of laterite, Its actually 55 OZ.

I just read a article about betta's in Aquarium magazine. I do not think they recommend putting even female bettas together due to fighting and mutual hostility.

If you keep them in groups of 6 or more it can be done succesfully. I have done it before. You just have to be wary of the bettas personality, if you get some nippys ones send them right back to the LFS. There is some aggression with a group of female bettas but its brief and usually only around feeding time. I had no nipped/torn fins or any unhealthy bettas.
