Hey everyone.

My beloved molly rescue, Louis Lane, appears to have some kind of internal issue.  It may be bacterial or parasitic, I'm not sure yet.  It also does not seem to have spread to any other fish (guppies and platies) in the tank yet.  If anyone could help me determine what is actually wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.

She has been very thin and at times weak from starvation for the past couple days, and has never been a big competitor for food during feeding time.  Since I had noticed her shrunken stomach, I put her in a separate container and feed her until her belly looks nice and healthy.  She becomes as active and energetic as normal after her separate feeding.  By the next day, her stomach is shrunken again.  Her poop is not white nor stringy, instead it is dark, and seems to be pretty normal.

Her regular diet consists of NLS freshwater tropical pellets as a staple, frozen brine shrimp, and a blanced zucchini slice for all the livebearers once every two weeks.

So I have not diagnosed the internal issue yet, and would appreciate if anyone could assist in that.  Also, what antibiotic and/or anti parasitic food can I feed her?  I'm in the United States, btw. :)  She'll be fed in quarantine so the healthy fish won't be eating the medicated food.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Camallanus worms do not always leave the fish with stringy white poo, it could be these. You can identify them when they poke out of the anus of the fish, nasty little blighters and quite difficult to get rid of and you would need to treat the whole tank. Sera Nematol is a very affective medicine against these worms, but I dont know if you can get it in the states. From your description I would suspect Camallanus worms.

To fight infection you can soak food in garlic, I slice up some garlic and put it in a pot for a while then add the food, remove the slices and feed to the fish, garlic has some antibacterial properties, but it wont work on camallanus worms alone.

Hope this helps
