Can you keep Puffers & Crabs together?

how much do you pay per crab?

It's a red crab and they cost £1.95 each, but she only gets them once a month as a treat.

They're a little dangerous for her with their sharp claws, the last one she had managed to grab her cheek and wouldn't let go even after it was dead. I had to remove it by hand for her  Next time I think we will have to de'claw the crabs before giving them to her, I wouldn't want her to lose an eye!

I didnt realize how big your puffer really is.

We bought her at 2 inches about three months ago, she's now over seven inches and growing fast on a diet of:

Crabs! - four a month
Cooked prawns in the shell - three per day
Live mealworms - about 20 per day -she prefers them when they've pupated
Live jumbo bloodworms - two portions per week
Live river shrimp - about thirty, once a week
Frozen mussel & cockle - two or three times a week (she's not very keen on these)

Plus various other things we think she might like when we see them in the fishmonger's

I like the way she spit out the last leg after she'd sucked it dry.

"No, I just couldn't finish it. I'm watching my figure, you know..."

am i the only one who feels sorry for the crab? :grr:

i'm sure if this video showed a crab ripping apart a fish you would all be complaining about how cruel it was.
I thought about that too  But meh...a crab's a crab. I'd eat him too :p

I knew someone would say something about this being cruel  :p

She didn't like you watching her eat, she kept looking at the camera as if to say "go away,it's my crab" Great video

No, you're not.

We too feel sorry for the crab, but crabs are Martha's natural food so she gets them.

We do however take care to select small crabs that Martha can kill in one bite so it's death is quick. She always attacks them face on and severs their 'head' with the first bite.
