Hi.

I bought this Killifish a a few months ago and I've never been able to figure out exactly which species it is. It was sold to me as 'Australe' but it doesn't seem to bear any resemblance to any pictures I've seen. I was told the Australe prefers to be alone but now I'm worried I'm keeping a schooling species on his own. He's doing great and has had no problems whatsoever with the other tank mates. I say 'he' it could well be female for all I know.

Sorry about the pictures (camera phone) but fins are very pink and blue, body is kind of silver and transparent, the mouth almost looks like a beak with very black colouring underneath.

Any help much appreciated :good:

Crikey, I think you're spot on there after a quick Google image search! Well done and thanks. So it's not even a Killifish? I better read up on them!

No wonder I couldn't find it! He's been doing ok at 26/27 degrees. Do you think this is a male or female?

males are more brightly coloured but as you only have 1 its hard to tell
you can keep them at higher temps and they will be happy but there life span will be shortened as there metabolizm will be increased
