Can you filter a tank too much..

I want to use 2 whisper ex 45 in a 55 gallon tank... i already have one...
When the second one is added the rate of filtration will be 480 gallons per hour...

I did not want to use the bigger EX 70 cause 1. its a bit loud and 2. if one goes bad or i am changing media my biological filtration is compromised.

I am also hoping that the 2 smaller filters will not have the water too turbulent...

Comments anyone...

I also have 2 smaller heaters on all my tanks instead of one big one....

i hope not, since i'm using two filters for my 15 gallon, to help it cycle
i have one for a 10 gallon tank and one for a 10-20 gallon tank

As Truck says, as long as it's not creating rapids then over filtration is absolutely fine.

Hi i have a 12g and 2 filters and there is not a problem and since i have added a second i have had no problems because before i had bad ammoina problems
so should not be a prolem just make sure there is not a strong current as said above
