hi im relativly new to fish keeping, but i have had my big tank for a few months now.
i got into fish keeping a while ago and now i cant stop! i have a oscar and a gar in a big tank and i recently(this tank is fine) 3 weeks ago bought a few smaller tanks cause i wanted to try to breed guppys. i have already started breeding guppys and i actually have about 30 fry right now. i started of with 10 females and 5 males. I have 4 tanks.

1) male tank 10 gallon
2) female tank 10 gallon
3) breeding tank 10 gallon
4) fry tank 5 gallon with a spounge filter - this tank used to hold guppys i originally had its been running for 4 months or so.

they all have an air stone and i have 1 filter u rotate between the 3 tanks usually the filter stays in one for 24 hours. cannot yet afford 2 more filters yet.

well i bought a kit to check the levels in my tanks and the tanks that are new were all about the same.
Amonia 20 ppm/l
ph 7.6
nitrate 15 ppm/l
nitrite 3.5 ppm/l

now dont ahte me. iknow i didnt cycle but honestly no one ever told be to cycle. the first time i heard of it was when i came to this site. how bad are my levels? and what can i do to fix them.

i read that i can use the filter from my already cycled tanks in my uncycled tank to help the process. but it is an external filter and since it is made up for a 100 gallon it is not posible to use. i know i really need to get the levels right fast since im down to 7 females! i lost 3. 2 died overnight i didnt see it happen and 1 died slowley. it look like it had a bent spine for about a week them bellied up, it also swam disorientated. do i need to go make 3 more spounge filteres? cause i know i need bacteria and the tanks are bare bottomed but were does it hide if its a tank like mine.

so what do u guys/gals think?
