is it ok to have 2 bristle nose catfish in a tank?
I have one at the moment, but would like another at some point. Are they fairly good algae eaters

I have 3, but personally if I was you, i'd just get one. They create far too much mess. They are good algae eaters yes. If you were to get 2, i'd get 2 babys and let them grow up together, then the waste will grow slightly aswell, so you will get used to it.

It's best not to get 2 males if you can help it. One will become dominant and may stunt the growth of the other. Also, they might have a small fight

i think the one i have at the mo is female. doesnt have any tentacle things.
so would it be best to get another female or a male?
the one i have at the moment is still a baby and is only 2cm long

I have 2 in my tank and I think they may both be female. Females can get some bristles as well as the males but obviously not so many. Mine would love to be able to get on the glass and clean it but a couple of Malawi's think they were put in there to be chased off of the glass. :)

I would wait a while until its full grown. I had two males and they fought a lot. Two females might square up to each other but if the tank is big enough they should get on.

I have just added two myself, but they are only babys and I cant tell if they are male or female (how do you tell)?

Also I dont even know what type they are - they have spots and a white band across the tail.

I stick a bit of cucumber in.

Do these eat fish flake to?

hi umpa, they sound like my one, its a bristlenose catfish. i did put cucumber with mine, but he wasnt that bothered. so i put in some algae flakes for him.

I have seen mine eat anything that I put in for the Malawi. Tetra Prima is a favourite also NWS cichlid mix, and spirulina flake.
