So, is this bucket safe to use for adding water and letting fish sit in a bucket full of water? Unsure if the plastic will cause any chemical reaction with the water sitting in it for a period of time?

I use plastic storage totes and 5 gallon painters buckets when necessary to house fish. I think the only problem might be if the material is flimsy, or if it can actually hold while full of water without bursting or stretching. That particular model looks like very thin material and it has poor reviews.

I can get stronger ones, I’m just wanting to know if the plastic will be okay to have water sat in it before putting it back into the tank as I’ll be taking 25% of my 150L tank water out then draining the rest to add sand, plants and some more natura look.

Yeah. I did the same thing with 5 of my 12 tanks. I used a 13 gallon tote for the fish with it half full of tank water. Then use painters bucks for everything else. Put water, fish, plants and decorations in buckets then switch what I wanted (substrate changes in this case) then rearranged my whole apartment and where half my tanks are.

Some people, myself included, use totes or buckets for qt for 2-6 weeks.

One thing you should keep an eye on is the temperature. I place a heater in the bucket with my fish if it is going to be more than 30 min. Also, be sure to keep your filter media damp or in tank water.

Thanks for that bud, well my filter is an external filter so it should hold
The water inside the filter when doing the change shouldn’t it?

Can you lift it when it's full of water? For a water Change I use a 15 litre bucket for the old, it's slower but I couldn't lift anything heavier.

Yes, most HOB models will hold the water.

I have a proper siphon so no need to lift in our out I then have a smaller bucket to use for the rest of the water if need be. Fish out and in with a net before hand

Cool. I've a siphon but I've to empty water outside so it's a pain

Here are some pics. The first 3 I changed from epoxy govered gravel to black plant gravel and the others are sand now.
