so i have 2 questions for 2 of my tanks.

1. can like 3 or 4 ottos join my 3 albino bristlenose plecos(2m:1f)(4" long) in my 75 gal tank? with at least 10 platns-most go all the way to the top of the tank and then some, and also 1 bigg piece of drift wood and caves and hiding places.? im just worried the bigger albino bristose pleco will bully the smaller ottos!

2. can i add 3 ottos to my 20 gal tank that has tons of algea on the back glass of the tank! also a piece of drift wood and more plants. but the thing is this is my baby cory grow out tank and im wondering if the ottos wiould be fine and not attack the baby cories(ranging from new born to about 1cm right now)

and is there any possiility that ottos would mate in a home aquaium on there own?
how to tell males from females? and is there a certain male to female ratio i should have?

otos are really peaceful fish =] they like to be in groups of 4+. i dont know if the bristlenose will attack them. but they wont attack the baby corys

they can mate in the aquarium... althogh its rear and not many people have seen it happening, there's alot unknown about there mating (at least i cant find anything on it on the net)

i dont know how you tell male and females but i dont think they need a male to female ratio like other fish. they get on with each other fine =] :good: (at least from my experience)

i love otos =] such cute peaceful fish

Would you say 3 ottos would be good for my 20 gal, and after I do some more research on Otto and bristlenose campatability let's say 4 or 5 ottos for my 75 gal

i think they would survive as a 3. and be fairly happy

Personally mine are fine bn's yes are terrortorial but wont halm your ottos :) they may display but nothin much else now if u where saying could u add that bn in to a tank with an established bn then maybe i wld get less but considering they are different fish all will more then likely be fine

I've tried adding young bristlenose fry to a tank that had an established group of otos in it. As they grew the BNs turned out to be too compeditive for the food and, while they prospered, the otos did not. I had to separate them after losing a few of the otos.

Hmm looks like mixed reviews! I think I'm not going to put any in my 75 gal, which makes room for the other fish I want! But I'm deffanitly going to start my own little colony in my 20 gal!:)
