I posted yesterday in the emergency section about my female dwarf gourami, but have not had many replies.

Read the post here

I cannot put her in another tank as I dont have one, and I cannot add salt as I have cories and botia in the tank!

She is still very bloated today and has not touched the peas I gave her. She is now pooing incredibly long stringy white poos (about 6" at a time). She looks quite happy though and has no other symptoms (no clamped fins or wounds, etc...)

Can anyone help.

Julia

I also posted this in your other section. I recently lost 5 fish to dropsy. Signs in order are swollen stomaches, clear stringy poop, red sores on body, swollen mouth and eyes, scales start to stick out and then they die. I treated my whole tank with pima fix for 7 days. It is safe to use with all of your other fish and won't hurt or dye anything. It doesn't always work but if it is dropsy the faster you treat it the better. Good luck Toni

You need to start treating with an antibiotic (or anything that says it'll treat internal ifnections) immediately, if it's dropsy. There is no guarantee she'll improve but it's worth trying. BTW, forget the peas - buy yourself some frozen daphnia ;) They are just as good for dealing with constipation (just in case) but also considerably more appetising (or so my gouramies tell me) and you can feed all your fish with it. Assuming there is no aggression in your tank, it would also be best to remove her from the breeding trap - she'll be less stressed if she is free to swim around in familiar territory.
