Can Pleco,s Get White Spot?

Ive just bought a gold nuggut and after care full examination i can see a selection of tiny white spots, can they get white spot , or is it sand particles?

Yes they can. How many spots? Can you spook him to get him to move and see if its sand?

It hard with sand but whitespot looks likie they have been sprinkled in salt.
