i heared that pictus cats can sting people
that there pectora and dorsal are where the sting is located

I heard they sting people. I wouldn't recommend petting the fish anyways. :p Keep in mind it's not sting like a scorpion, it's sting like a bee without venom. They just got sharp spikes.

My snakehead was ill for a couple of weeks after being stung by my pictus, and I wasnt even told that it was poisonous, surely the lfs should have told me, anyway thats a different story.

The fish itself is very placid just dont let anything or anyone force it into a corner otherwise you could be injured.

Basicaly all catfish can "sting" you with their dorsal and pectorall fins, but this is more of a stab then a sting. To be a sting venom must be realesed into the recever of the stab. Some cats have venom packs in side of their bodies and some have slim coat that act as the venom.

I got stabbed by my angelicus catfish when i was putting it into my tank. It got caught on the bag and i freed it and jabbed myself on its fin. It hurt, but its not poisoness.

Pictus have extremely sharp fins....Caution has to be taken when moving them as they will easily be caught in nets and will tear bags....I dont believe they can harm you but it does sting quite a bit...

That happened to me yesterday, and I got a good look of it's fins, they are pointed and look very sharp :)

Yea i bought a net from BigAL's that was suspose to be "untangle proof" and the first time i used it on a pim he was caught...If this happens its best to CAREFULLY cut off the pim with some net still attached to him...He will eventually loose it all by himself.

Pictus do not have the capability to envenomate a person so they can not sting you. However, pictus, like most cats, can and do raise their pectoral and dorsal fins in self defense, these are very sharp and a covered in spines and barbs, trust me these hurt!
