Can I change my guppy fry ("born" friday) to a different tank without the water changes hurting or possibly killing them? I just want to make sure, I don't want to be responsible for their deaths. Right now, they're floating in a small container in the tank they were born in but I know I can't keep them there forever and want to move them to my 5 gallon tank as soon as possible.

if the tank is pretty much same temp and water stats the same(and tank is fully cycled) then yes just float them first or even replace water out of the tank there in into the new tank again making sure the new tank is fully cycled :)

Fill the 5 gallon tank for the fry with water from the current tank it's floating in. And use the same filter media (if possible) from the current tank over to the 5 gallon.

make sure if there is a filter you cover it with nylon, you dont want them getting sucked into the filter and dying :(

The temp is the exact same but I'm not sure about the stats. Also, the tank is already full because I was cycling it, can I just change half of it with water from the old tank? I've got an internal filter in my other tank so the fry should be safe, right? They might be able to get sucked onto the spongy thing though... Should it be safe?

if the tank is already cycled then yes there shouldnt be a problem as for the interenal filter if they get sucked into it which usually they do they will probably die :( puting nylon i think was suggested should work just 2 be on the safe side :)

my issue with nylon is that it sometimes doesn't allow even flow of water and that it doesn't allow the water to be filtered, if there are any large particles that is. I'm still working on a soloution on how to fix this, as i am wonderinf since the nylon is acting as a sifter.. how well is the filter it cleaning the water :(

True. Maybe I'll wait to put them in the bigger tank. I need to go get myself that test kit (I'm still convincing my parents to drive me to Walmart). I don't think the filter is a problem, it's really weak. The fish poop just kinda sticks to the place where it sucks in water till I wipe it off. Anyways, I think I'll wait till they outgrow they're container to put them in the tank. I don't want to risk it. =/
