LOL, just kidding...

But seriously, I was wondering if it would be alright to use a rubberband to attach a piece of cucumber to a rock with a rubberband? My candy-stripped pleco won't touch anything unless it's on the ground...spoiled... :sly:

As long as it's a good rubber band that's unlikely to snap, you'll be find doing that. You can also make a cucumber feeder with a spare piece of air hose: Cut a piece of hose about 8 inches long and form a loop by connecting the ends with a half-inch chuck of rigid plastic air tubing (like the stuff that runs down a riser tube to hold an air stone near the bottom).

Thread the air hose through a weight such as a stainless steel nut or washer. I use brass plumbing connectors. When you stick one end of the air hose through a slice of cucumber and reconnect the loop, you can drop the whole thing in your tank and it'll sink to the bottom where the fish can have a feast.

I tie a length of monofilament fishing line to mine and attach the other end to a wine cork that floats on the surface. That way, I can pull the whole thing out in the morning without shoving my arm down in the tank.

Rubber bands should be fine.

But, what usually works for me, and is easier, is to cut a fairly thick slice of cucumber (1/4"-1/2" thick), toss it in the microwave for about 20 seconds, and after it cools, press a couple of grains of the tank gravel into it. Usually stays sunk after that.
