Hi guys i have set up a new tank on guide of an member as i asked if i use my tank water and matured media can i start straight away the answer was yes

Now to my real question my friends borrowed my filter and killed their fish by adding a non fish friendy statue now they have told me they boiled it to get rid of anything i have also rinsed it so will the filter be alright to use ?

The media was also boiled an i rinsed it today an its not in use in the filter some matured media is

Sorry, what's the question?

Can you use the filter with new mature media in? Well, yes, if its still in working order. How did they 'boil' it?

I think they tipped boiling water in / on the power head and put the spounge in a bowl of boiling water

I just worried that my betta which i plane to put him in is gonna die from paint posioning altho i have rinced and they have boiled the filter

It works good same as before i lent it to them just the media from it i was worried the toxic paint would still be on it :( n dont wont to hurt my betta hes my new betta and dnt wont to hurt him

If you're using new media I don't see the problem, as long as it is cycled media, not brand new. The filter itself will be fine, it's unlikely to 'absorb' the toxins and has been cleaned well.

The water won't make any difference as there's no bacteria contained in it - the only difference the water will make is making sure any fish you're transferring don't get shock from changing to drastically different water.

Yes, the filter should be fine, but there won't be any bacteria left on the media that was boiled.
