I have some young-ish platies that were born a while back, but im unsure of who the father is, we only had 1 male platy, but when we bought our female, she was in with a lot of different males and females. Our female is a light orange all-over and our male has a really dark orange body and black fins (a red wag platy i think) and my young ones go from a pale orange to almost albino. is it possible my female was inpregnated in the shop??

How long did you have the female wen she gave birth?

Platies can store sperm for upto 6 month's. So any fry from with in the 1st 6 months are impossible to tell who the farther is.

You cant go by fry colour either. as mixing different types will produce many different coloured fry because of the mixing of gene's.

If you keep their fry separate and keep males and females on their own, from as soon as their sexable. Then breed these back as virgin's then you can be 100% sure of who the father is.
