Can I Keep Shrimp With These Fish...?

Im after getting something in my tank other than fish.

I currently have in my 240ltr tank:

3x Rainbows, 4x Cherry Barbs, 2x Ghost catfish, 2x Xray Tetra, 2x Upside down Catfish, 8x Neons, 1x Molly, 1x Red Tail Shark, 1x Polkadot Loach, 1x Yoyo Loach.

Its semi planted (the back of the tank is lined with tall plants) and my substrate is sand. I was thinking about perhaps a a couple of crabs? But heard that they tend to chop at the roots and uproot the plants...? What about a few small shrimps?

I would say not unfortunately, I think quite a few of your fish would potentially see them as food. I bought 10 2-3cm Amano shrimp for my 10g which was stocked with small tetra, thinking they would be fine. They were gone the next day
However this does not rule out shrimp as an option for your tank. You may have already seen these, I had one at one point and it was very cool SHRIMP.
Some people find them hideous, but I became quite attached to mine, although he was scared of me he had a routine where he came out at the same time each day. The have 4 fans and the collect microscopic organisms from the water column.
They also have a relative called the 'Cameroon Armored Shrimp' these are about 15cm long and are pretty odd. Owning these is a very acquired taste.

Get a blue crayfish or some other type one at a time. When the crayfish molts, it is vulnerable to the other fish, so make a hiding space for it. Also make sure there is no way for the crayfish to escape out of the tank.
