Hi, i will soon be getting this tank and i was wondering if i can keep any cichlids in this.Juwel Lido 120 It is 120 litres and also what equpiment would i need, i know i may need a new filter as the juwel filter is not terribly effective as ive heard and cichlids make a lot of mess (thats what ive heard).

Thanks
Will

I think the set up you have will be fine if you are prepared to stock very lightly, I would personally maybe add a pair of Kribensis or Labidochromis and one of the smaller synodontis species (possibly Synodontis polli)
By using a sand substrate and lots of rocks, plants and caves you can quite easily mimick their habitat.

The only viable African Cichlid option for that tank is a pair of Kribs i'm afraid - you need to be looking at a 4 foot tank to keep Mbuna IMO.
