I have a male fighter, some tetras and some guppies.

My friend wants to get rid of his silver dollar and a male swordtail.

Can I have them?

A quickish response would be much appreciated!

Never kept silver dollars but i know some male swordtails can get aggressive as they get older.

Personally....i wouldn't risk it (if it ain't broken, don't fix it !!!)

How large is your tank? Does it have plenty of refuge?
Some male bettas get very territorial even after you have introduced them into the community tank and they have made 'friends' with your fish. As for the swordtail, I would watch out because they are about the same size as bettas, and can be very colourful.

silver dollars get the size of dinner plates, and are a shoaling fish. I'd give that one a miss. :good:

It's 35 litre. Only had a few plants so I put more in for my fighter. He seems to be even happier. And he likes to go inside the NO FISHING rock I've got in there, where the bubbles come out. Quite cute I thought lol.

OK i won't put them in. I'll go out and get some little shrimps or catfish or something!

this is well cheeky of me, but if your mate is looking to get rid of silver dollars i'd be interested in them. i live in blandford so not too far away.
been wanting to get some silver dollars for a while and have a 400+ litre tank for them to go into for lots of space.

Noooo. My silver dollars are growing rapidly and will soon outgrow their 130L tank. They can be a bit nippy too sometimes. You could always get another tank :)

If he got more they wouldn't fight. Shoaling species should be kept in groups of 3 at the very minimum preferably 5 or more.

It's not a tank.. it's like a room! a giant tank! At Bournemouth Oceanarium. I took a photo and liked it! It's really cool there.

Oh ok I'll tell him that, I wouldn't know, I only have small fish. He has some beasts in his tank.
