Guys in looking to get some more fish next month and I like some Malawis. I know each 'type' are slightly did but in general would they be ok with ...

1 x red tail shark - 2inch
1 x Angel Fish - 1 inch
5 x Black widow tetra's
5 other little fish like the tetras but orange can't remember what they called.

I've got a 1m long 200l tank

very easily.....no

Malawi need a malawi only tank. They should never be mixed with anything else and will almost certainly destroy your other fish. (although armoured plecs like a bristlenose can work).

also, you've got soft water fish in your tank currently, and malawis need very hard water.....another very good reason not to keep them together.

Gutted wish I'd known that before getting my other fish!

in terms of stocking in your current tank, it's pretty good. But be wary of the shark.....they can become aggressive and territorial as they grow and might become a threat to the other inhabitants.

Thanks I'm very new to this and rushed into buying some fish but now I've looked on here and few other sites I really like some of the Malawis ! I'll see how it goes and I may get rid of mine once I learn about more and get some Malawis

ok, just as another point......has anyone told you about 'cycling' your tank and filter bacteria before getting any fish?

If not.....I strongly suggest having a look at the cycling topics in the beginners section. They will help a great deal!

post back in Tropical Discussion if you have any questions....

Yes I've read that thread and am going to check water etc and do what I can to help cycling
