I have got an Aqua Glo, Flora Glo and Sun Glo T8 on a Rio 125, would they fit a Trigon 190 T5?

Right Jen tell me what is better, I have got the standard T8 tubes on my new tank or I can swap them in for these other tubes I've got Flora Glo, Aqua Glo or Sun Glo, they are all T8 tubes

Depends what you want them to be used for hun... a bulbs a bulb untill you start using them for planted tanks then i would imagine the sun glo ones(going by name) would be better suited to imitate the suns natural output.

T5 bulbs will always be better, they tend to be higher wattage and penatrate deeper into a tank, however as long as the T8's equate to a decent wattage between them they will work for planted tank just as well ;)

Hope i read your question right and this sort of answers it lol

Just was wondering if it's worth putting the Glo tubes onto my hood instead of the standard not that i know what I'm doing lol - it has got plants in but they do well already, what would you do keep the standard or use the glo? Flora glo obviously great for plants

If the plants are already growing fine hun i wouldnt bother changing, however you could always try them just to see if they would grow even better, youve already got the bulbs?, so theres no harm in trying.

Im not really up on bulb specs but im sure someone will be along soon to help give you a better indepth run down on what bulbs will be better and the actuall benefits :)

Yeah basically I won 2 tanks on ebay this weekend (didn't mean to win them both, I thought I would only win one at the most!) and the one I'm not gonna keep has got these glo T8 lights and the one i'm keeping has standard T8 and so just wondered if there's any benefit in switching really, so yeah if someone else could tell me lol thanks Jenx

Why not run one of each or run exclusively one type for a week then exclusively the other type and see if there is any change in plant growth or colouration of the fish becomes more vivid. Some people like a slightly yellow tinge to their tank lights others prefer a clinical white light assuming your plants aren't high maintenance I don't see the issue with using either.

how exactly do you change the tubes lol

Turn the unit upside down and either end of the tube twist the caps which should be quite obvious they are quite tight as they need to be waterproof. For my fluval tanklight, each cap on a single bulb needs to be moved in the opposite direction to each other e.g. the left is loosened by turning clockwise and the right is loosened by turning counter clockwise. The sunglo tubes have a yellowy glow whilst the aqua glow has a more blue tint.

Oh dear, they are on really tight and I can't turn them, is it the plastic ribbed ends that I have to turn?
