Can I Feed My Fish These ?

My dad has a compost heap he dug it over there ar 1000s of small red worms about 1" if a caught a lot of them and cut them into pieces(sounds cruel i know) would they be ok for my fish??.Just out of curriosity i tried 1 cut in half and my 2 buenas aries barbs grabed them as soon as they hit the water was funny all the other fish were trying to get what was sticking out there mouths lol.
