hey guys.

until now i've had a 38G tank with only hang-on-back filters. those have a reputation for not dealing well with air bubbles hitting the impeller and what not, so I never tried to feed the CO2 directly into them.

now I've upgraded to a 75G tank, and among the better filtration I have a nice Penn-Plax Cascade 1000 canister filter. I have to wait a couple of months before I can get pressurized CO2, so I was wondering if it's safe to just feed my DIY CO2 directly to the intake of the canister filter, and let it do the work of a powered reactor? I have two 2liter bottles that I run together. before they weren't working very efficiently because they were just hooked up to air stones and the CO2 just floated to the top. if I can insert the co2 tubing into the intake of the canister, that would assure me every single molecule of CO2 would be efficiently dissolved into the water...but I dont want to ruin my new filter in the process....

so, can I do it safely? should I do it? what's the worst that could happen from having 2 DIY co2 bottles feeding CO2 into the filter?

thanks for the help.
