Can I Add Fluorite To My Gravel Without Emptying The Tank?

Hey,
I'm going to begin a planted tank, and my gravel isn't very nutrient to the plants. So, is it possible to just dump fluorite into my aquarium and mix it up with the gravel?

It'd be fine just mixed in, but flourite clouds the water so either give it a really good clean (You'll never all the dust out) or re home the fish for a few days while it clears.
