I just got Casper on the 18th. He lives in my 5gal in my room. I'm not in my room as often as I'd like to be to entertain him (I've noticed with previous fish that they like to be in environments where they can watch stuff :p)

Anyways, I have 7 guppy fry and two platy fry (As well as a wack of Molly fry) I'm aware that Molly's and platy's cant/ Shouldn't go in a 5 gal, but I was wondering if I could add one or two of the guppy fry to Casper's tank when they're older? They're only 2 weeks old so I wouldn't add them yet, but assuming he's passive and doesn't freak out, would two guppies and a Betta (And a snail or three to help keep it clean) be alright in a 5 gal?

im afraid not. guppies and bettas should never be in the same tank together, and to add to that, 2 guppies a apple snail and a betta is a bit much for a 5 gallon. maybe if you can find some. then endlers livebearers should work well

I wouldn't advise guppies as when they get older there may be potential for attacks, especially in a tank that small. As suggested, you may try some endlers, or even some shrimp

Adding shrimp to my 5 gallon tank was the best thing I ever did! I highly recommend it. :good:

Just watch out if you add smaller shrimp as they might become a snack to the Betta. Just buy one and see how that goes then you can get more if they all survive

On the subject of shrimp, I keep some red cherries and rudolphs with my betta and they seem to do fine. He can get a bit tetchy with the rudolphs sometimes, but I have never seen any issues with the cherries :good: The cherries are small and brightly coloured though, so I can see how they can make easy targets for any peckish and agressive bettas.
