i have a 30gal tank and ive got 3 platys, 2 zebra danios and 2 pearl danios plus 4 platy fry that are in a breeder tank. My boyfriend wants to add bottom feeders but im not sure if they will go in the tank wiv the others? any help would be greatful

thanks

The standard bottom dwellers; corydoras catfish, loaches and plecs, will be fine with your other fish. Don't buy clown loaches as they will grow too large for your tank. And similarly, don't buy common plecs for the same reason.

Which ones did you (or him) have in mind?

dont have clue im very new to this i dont like the look of bottom feeders but he does so im just keeping him happy. what would you recomend?

A nice group of cory's. 6+, once they settle they are stunning to watch :)

Your tank is roughly same as mine

1x bristlenose plec
6-8 corys

the above would be fine. Sterbai corys are stunning! I wouldn't go for albino corys if ur bf wants bottom feeders as they are super active and tend to be everywhere except the bottom lol

I'm not too clued up on loaches so hopefully someone else could advise you on them

Yeah, at first I wasn't a big fan of the corys...but now I love them! They're so cute to watch and help move my sand around in my tank. They're very fun to watch move around : )

Ive just driven to my local aquatic centre and bought 3 brown corys as a surprise for my boyfriend lets hope he likes the 1s i got. Thanks for all ur help

If you get the chance I'd advise you buy at least another one as corys should really be kept in groups of 4+ ideally 6.

These are the sterbai cories I was referring to that are stunning: Sterbai Cory

Ive put the bronze corys in the tank and they seem fine, they are not bothered by the other fish at all. Its quite funny as the other fish are all eating from the bottom of the tank as well now. ive just been reading up on bronze corys and i didnt relize that they lay eggs i hope mine are all males as ive all ready had 1 bath of platy fry and im due another from my other platy. I only started my tank about 3 months ago so im a virgin to all this breeding.
