I have a new crowntail betta in a 1 gallon tank and then I have a small small rubber lip pleco in a ten gallon tank. My ten gallon already has a pleco. Can the rubber lip pleco go with the betta until it outgrows the tank?

Can it? Sure...will it create more waste? You bet. You'll have to do water changes more often. 1 gallon is actually on the smaller side just for a betta. I keep snails in mine to help with the food waste- but my smallest tank is 2.5 gal.

Don't do it, don't keep 2 fish in a 1 gallon

I understand about the waste. But am not too worried about it because I clean my smaller betta tanks twice weekly because they only have bubble stones no filter. So it should be ok, right?

Really, yes, you CAN...but should you? That's your own judgement call, but I wouldn't. You'll be more than likely to end up with an unhappy little guy. The pleco will be happy in the 10 gal, and the betta will be more happy by himself in a 1 gal. I'd just let him have his little home to himself. :)

1G is far too small for any Pleco, even if it is only for a short while. Not only do they produce lots of waste but they also need heavily oxygenated water.

Agree, would be better suited to some ramshorn snails or cherry shrimp with the betta

are you considering adding the betta to the ten gallon or the pleco to the one gallon??

my bettas killed my cherry shrimp

Yeah, I tried putting 1 amano shrimp in with Alpha Betta, and the poor shrimp didn't even make it out of the bag before I knew he would be a goner. The poor little guy didn't even make it through the night. :/ A 1 gal. is just to small for a betta to have tank mates. Even if he doesn't attack them, it'll likely stress him out to have to share such a small space. :(

Not to mention that a pleco would need a cycled and filtered tank it's just a mad question and the simple direct answer is NO

Maybe i misread it but are you trying to put the betta with the pleco.. yes they would get along.. but bettas dont like fast moving water and a pleco needs alot of filtration... and will eventually outgrow that tank, faster than you think so im glad you plan on moving it....

if you plan on puttin the pleco into the one gallon.. the answer is hell no!!...

your pleco shouldnt even really be in a ten gallon but i understand if you have no other choice right now and are eventually going to move it... but no that would never work.. the betta needs the one gallon to himself...
