ok my mom has a small tank of some goofy little fish(a tetra maybey?) and well i was think of giving her a huge tank but she only got 3 fish, so would it hurt to put goldfish in with them? i know it wont hurt the goldfish but i dunno bout the other fish(theyd get along together)

yall know more then me so...

Common goldfish and other single tailed goldies would eat the tetras if they can catch them.
Goldies also prefer a lower temperature but fancy goldfish do like the lower tropical temps.
Its either the neons and other tropicals or the goldfish. For a thirty gallon goldie tank, maybe two young common goldfish for a year or so before needing upgraded or a couple of fantail types for life with some white cloud minnows.
With goldfish you would need a filter thats good at circulating the water and holds a lot of biological media.

A friend of mine was given a Bristol goldfish by a neighbour. It was either he take it or they would flush it away (eek!). Anyway, it was about 5cm long when he took it. This week he has had to take it to the LFS as it had grown to about 18cm long! A stunning specimen and so it must have loved the warm water. We do think it had been eating a few of the smaller tetras, though. By the way, it was such a good specimen that the LFS gave him £8 for it. Goldfish do like to dig up plants up burrow through the substrate for food, though.
