Yes, but as it needs a lot of light co2 helps big time. With lower light levels it tends to get stringy and not carpet at all. Glosso seems to struggle in sand substrate too .

My experience of growing glosso without C02 is that growth is amazingly slow. I've tried growning it in a 8" deep tank with 1 HOT5 light and Seachem Excel and it did virtually nothing - it stayed green and healthy looking but simply did not spread.

Only after I injected with C02 did it grow.
