Yes, but as it needs a lot of light co2 helps big time. With lower light levels it tends to get stringy and not carpet at all. Glosso seems to struggle in sand substrate too .

I would say no. Glosso is demanding in terms of light and CO2. The light levels required (at the bottom of the tank) necessitate the use of CO2 injection otherwise algae will prevail.

My experience of growing glosso without C02 is that growth is amazingly slow. I've tried growning it in a 8" deep tank with 1 HOT5 light and Seachem Excel and it did virtually nothing - it stayed green and healthy looking but simply did not spread.

Only after I injected with C02 did it grow.
