I have 4 platys, 3 are blue mickey mouse platys and one is a mickey mouse cross i think. Anyway, 2 are female and 2 are male. One of the females (I know its a female because it is pregnant and has the dark spot where the babies are) has what looks like a gonopodium. How does this work? Im really counfused. Its just like the males one.

Has anyone ever experianced this?

Every now and then a fish, your platy for example, are born female but in their body are some male hormones, which cause it to start showing male body signs. Fish like this are usually called a ''mule''

Oh cool thanks for the fast reply. Will she develop the babies as usual and give birth normally?

I'm not sure what will happen if she is pregnant [which she probably is] are the fins always down like a males gonopodium or did they bjust stay down for a couple of seconds? And how old is it.

Its flat to her body most of the time. Sometimes it moves downwards but quickly. She is pregnant, and im not sure of her age. Im guessing as there was a way for the male to get hes gonopodium in and mate with her, there is going to be a way out for the fry lol
