Hi All,

I'm currently setting up an 80L water drum in a cupboard with an airstone and heater, to make the frequent changes required (to keep my discus happy) that little bit easier. Everything is working well apart from my slighlty niave notion of being able to move water between tank and drain, then drum to tank using only primitive siphoning! Several mouthfuls of poopy water later I realise if I don't want to get poisoning or induce an aneurism I may need to introduce a pump to the equation!

I don't need anything powerful, just capable of moving water from a-b. Don't want to be power-vacuuming all my fish up (even though I have safeguards to keep them out of the inlet)!!! External pump obviously, submersion not required, I'd connect the pipes up as and when needed.

Disappointed, as the set-up is working well so far. I just need a cheap pond pump normally used for a trickling water feature, but Hozelock, or similar connections would be a plus! Ideas on a price would be handy too!

Much appreciated!

What about an Eheim Hobby Pump, They come in various sizes and can be used in or out of water. Type in Eheim Hobby Pump into one of the major search engines.
Hope this helps...
