Can't you simply measure it with a tape measure? (Remember a lot of these "convertors" make allowances for gravel and rocks, and frequently do not make it clear what units they are using, (US Gallon/Imp. Gallon)).

Try All-Glass Aquariums. Thats what i got and it was cracked but i got a new one. Good quality and pretty cheap.

I'm not sure how big this tank is, but it looks pretty big to me!

Big tank!

Ok, I apologise, I'm in a silly mood today!

Personally i dont rate juwel tanks at all, i have two and would never buy another one. we've had all sorts of problems with the eletrical equipment, particularly with the larger tank (Rio 300), in the 18 months we've had the rio the lights have failed once (juwel admited a designfault and replaced free of charge) the heater has failed twice and had to be replaced at m own cost, the last time i replaced it with a alternative make, and the last thing to happen was the powerhead on the filter failed while i was on holiday and killed over £200 worth of fish, i had a second filter running but i had slowed the flow to a trickle and the fish died from oxygen depravation :-( . The smaller Rekord 120 has had less problems but i have still had to replace the light unit once and the heater once in the 3 years weve had it. Great tanks but lousy electricals IMO, you are far better off spending a little more money and buying everything seperately so you know that what you are getting are quallity products.

I know well how to do it, and without using a calculator! It was the orginal questioner that didn't seem to believe his results.

I've never used "branded" tanks.

I second that. I've got two Juwels. My biggest problems with them are inadequate light for my planted aquariums, non-standard size so you can't use generic replacement parts and the hoods are terrible for adding anything to the tank - no space for pipes and wires into the tank.

I had nightmares with the fitted Juwel background - it became covered in hair algae and went rotten, giving off all manner of noxious chemicals. I now have plain blue plastic backgrounds which I can replace if they get nasty.

The Juwel filter takes up acres of space and although an excellent biological filter, is pretty hopeless as an oxygenator, so I use an air-stone as well which I keep near the out-let. I've also glued a terracotta pot to the bottom of it as its not quite tall enough for my tank, despite the fact that it was built into it (which meant I had to have the water level far too low. I've also had trouble with fish getting caught in the filter and I've killed two fish over the years trying to position the filter correctly in the tank (they tend to get behind it as it is dark in there).

I too have had to replace a light fitting and a heater, at vast cost (hence my comment about generics). The heaters are good if they last 2 years and cost on average £26 to replace. However, I got my Juwel tanks free and second hand so I really shouldn't complain. If you want a Juwel they're often sold 2nd hand - which is probably a sign of their lack of "upgradability".

I need a new hood for one of my Juwels. I'm not a millionaire so I intend to build one myself. It's going to have holes in it to fit an Eheim filter intake and outlet, plus space for a lot more light than I've currently got (only one single 25 watt fitting, plus built-in reflector).

I also have a Clearseal tank. Standard sized (18"x15"x12"), easy to find parts for and cheap. I'd get a Clearseal every time.

wow......never thought id see any1 slaggin off juwel

ive got 2 juwel tanks and i think they're brilliant.....ive had no problems with them what so ever.....my filters work perfectly....okay they dont give off much of a water flow.......but i got an airstone in for that extra oxygen that might be needed

i think that the filter n heater bein in that black box in the corner is great......looks really neat and hides all the wires that can look so ugly

i have well enuff lighting in both my tanks......fish are bright and plants are healthy...had to replace a bulb last week for my newer tank as it was blue and just went to a local lfs and got a normal aquarium flourescent strip

i think that the tanks look really good and the stands for them are really really good quality and worth every penny!!!!

i was in a shop in manchester yesterday and saw lots of juwel stuff......stronger power heads and everythin...so if u need to upgrade then u can

i'll be gettin a new tank soon and im 100% sure that its gonna be juwel....i think theyre the best tanks goin.....the only thing that'd stop me gettin a juwel tank over a different make is if the other tank was an unmissable bargain

Tek :fish:
