Can Anyone Identify This Plant

In the last week my main tank has been overun with this plant floating on the surface

The first pic is from above and the second is from below showing the small roots?

should I get rid of it?

Can it be planted in the substrate or attached to bogwood etc?

i know what it is just cant remember the name

its a floating plant and considered a weed i think. i would say get rid of it as it cuts out light to lower plants

That's what I was thinking, but I thought that it was a bit too small for duckweed.

it is definetly duck weed we are looking for this for our turtle tank and pond we just cant get hold of it as its classed as a niusance weed in ponds its a pitty you are so far away otherwise i would have it all off you to go in our turtle pond and tank (they like to hide and eat it )

I could bag it up for you, proably be able to wrap it up in paper towel and put it in a polythene bag and send it to you if you want it?

Lemna minor, or commonly known as Duckweed. A bit of a prolific pest. Good for spawning, sheltering shy species, and my platies munch on it, but otherwise, I remove it from my tanks. It can get out of hand.

it will be perfect thanks. she's out basking in the sun allday doesn't bother much with the water yet so we have to keep wetting her lol to get her to shed her shell she's just big fat and lazy i think lol

i made this out of old double glazing window frames i had then boarded it out and my mate gave me a pond liner that has been in his shed for years and i already had the rest of the stuff so this has not cost me a penny to build its 4ft square and 2ft deep but stands 4ft tall i did have a 8ft x 4ft x 3ft pond with a 6 bay filter system but it all got stolen and kicked in a couple of months ago but no fatalaties though but i did have to get rid of my koi and 15" diamond sturgeon which gutted me

Sorry to hear about the pond going, hope the thieves set it up and fell in and drowned!! Glad it did not cost you anything for the replacement.

I have been toying with the idea of a pond for years. I have the room for it as my back garden is 100' long and about 160' wide, it is just like a field at the moment.
