what i mean do i need a pair of them or can i have just one.... i may be able to get 2 but just wanted to know if 1 is ok.

hi I would get one or more than 2.I had 2 and they battered each other I got another 2 and things got better. In fact after 3 days a pair happened and egg laying took place.i looked it up and it says generallt 10 gals for 1 angel with al least 18 inches depth.

they are beautiful but an be aggressive, i am down to one at the moment because of a tank blow out that recently happend and i lost my other 3.

when my tank is clear i shal look at having 5 in total

hope this helps

Sam

Most importantly - how big is your tank?

Hey i tried angelfish. They like to shoal, but don't over-crowd. Like samseal said for the area per fish. But DO NOT put any other species in with them. Angelfish either die or kill everything else in a community tank.

I angel will do fine in a tank as the only fish, or the only angel, provided you have the proper tankmates. Anything that has longer, flowing fins will probably be seen as an angel, and treated as such. This usually means aggression problems.

I've been keeping corys & bristlenose plecs with angels for a long time. The juvie angels are actually more bothersome to them, adults ignore them unless protecting a spawn. Plecs are egg eaters, and will try to munch on a spawn. They will get nipped, but being armored cats show little effect.

I've also kept numerous livebearers with angels, kribs at one time, and have a few angel fry in with a batch of apisto fry. I'm sure there are a few I'm forgetting.

I agree with tolak, angels are fine by themeselves (or though there are otherswho would disagree here or in most communitys (assuming theres nothing small enough to viewed as food). Some fish I've kept with single, pairs or groups of angels

Apistogramma
Rams
Nannacara
Discrossus
corys (varius)
Red tail sharks
Convicts
Jack dempsey
Black Knife
Common Pleco
Blue Acara
Guppies
Neons - warning the occasional one goes missing, usually on the one night every 10 or days I fast my fish
Lesser Salmontail Catfish
three spot gourami
chocolate gourami
pearl/lace gourami
severum
sailfin pleco
bristlenose pleco
croaking gourami
sparkling gourami
discus
pictus catfish
swrdtails

I think thats about all I've kept them with (but there may be others)
