can a guppy mate with a platy

my platy has been pregnant since the day i bought her and i also bought a guppy but only recently my guppy has been trying it on with my pregnant platy what is going on

Hiya,
IMO male guppies try it on with anything that has a tail. if you do not have female guppies then that is what teh problem is as male gups have soo much sexual energy that they are constantly trying to mate . this is why one must have (or would be wise to have) 2 or3 female to 1 male guppy. If you do not have nay other plattys and have guppie sin the same tank then i know that plattys seem to have an identity crisis, and hang around with the female guppies.

It cannot happen....a guppy can only mate with a guppy....a platy with a platy (or swordtail)....a molly with a molly....

They all have different breeding methods....

the only livebearer crossbreeding I've heard of is platy/swordtail like Chook said, or guppy/endler's.

if ur platy gets preggo again without a platy male, it's most likely because she stored some sperm
