Using a large internal filter in a 65L tank. Just added 6 small (1-1.5cm) Harlequin Rasboras into the tank and im concerned that the flow from the filter outlet might be too strong for them. 1 of the group is in constant hiding, the other 5 swim in and around but mainly stay in a corner of the tank which is out of the flow of water. Will they get used to this or should i be turning the filter down?

Also where do you guys have your filters positioned? Do you have the outlet facing the center of the tank or not? Or is that a moot point?

probably that they are just settling in if you have only just added them . a good way to aim your filter outlet is so that it just below the waters surface , and gives surface agitation . if the flow from your filter is too strng for your fish , you can turn the flow down ( assuming your filter has adjustable flow) failing that you can break up the flow with plants, wood etc or another way is to aim the filter at the side wall of the tank .

Yes it is adjustable, the filter is placed below the water level and has a........... scoop facing the flow towards the surface. There is plenty of surface agitation and there is also a bubble curtain along the back of the tank. Im sure its just me being too obsessive about the tank, i just want to make sure it is right!

with the fish being newly introduced id say its most likely that they just need time to settle in . id give them a few days and see if they start coming out and about more .

nice tank . i like the way youve hidden most of the equipment with those plants :good: just give those rasbora a few days to settle and im sure you will see a difference in them

Thanks, its a little fake for my liking but the kids love it :)Like i say this is my first tank in nearly 3 years, its strange making all the rookie mistakes again! This was my last tank:

Maybe when i have more space i will get another :D

I actually just moved 1 hanging plant from infront of the filter ontop of the heater to cover the back of the tank more.

This was my first tank:
