I use wild plants I find here where I live.
First, I rinse them in distilled water thoroughly and make sure I dont see any eggs or little bugs on them. You can rip the leaves off that have eggs on em, and obviously toss the bugs.
I then put them in a plant "only" tank and treat them with "Mardel Coppersafe".
Yes, I know coppersafe "can" damage plants.
I called the manufactuer and asked if I could use this product in a planted tank, I was told yes, but use a half dose and after 1 week do a large water change and vacuum the substrate thoroughly.
I did so, and have had some plants die, but many survived leading me to believe they died for other reasons then the coppersafe.
I've also used it in a planted guppy tank and had no "tropical" plants die.
Or, you could use melafix, I now use this instead of the coppersafe becuase its safe to use in planted tanks.
Give the plants a few weeks, one to make sure all parasites and bugs are dead, and two, too allow them to reastablish themselves before adding them to your main tank(s).
