I have a pair of Bolivian Rams. Both have camillanus (Red threads protruding anus). I treated the tank with Fenbendazole Wormer Plus three times in the last two months. I put a sachet for 50 gallon into my 30 gallon tank as it says in the instructions not to under dose. It just does not seem to work. Any other ideas people. It killed all the pest snails in my tank so it had a positive effect  Maybe a dip or bath treatment?

Yes give it a shot never anything to lose as internal parasites are a killer.
The only thing is making sure there getting enough of it in the food.
Yes I would remove the strimp.
Good luck, been there not nice.

Thanx Wilder. Wish me luck

I will all the luck in the world. :good:

Ted28,

I seem to have had some success on my mollies by treating them with praziquantel. There is a kitten wormer by 'bob martin' and each dose is in liquid form and contains 20 mg of Praziquantel. One molly had three worms and I treated it for 3 hours in up to 30 mg/l of praziquantel and she now seems to be recovering - i haven't seen a single worm out of her for a week. However I don't know if there are other side affects (one person advised me that they could just drop dead from treatment but the worms would kill them anyway) and I did reduce my ph to 7 - was at a loss as I can't find a vet to give me levamisole so didn't have much to lose. I plan to treat the rest of the fish and then bleach the tank (whilst they are in a hospital tank) to get rid of any eggs that may be in the tank.

Web consensus seems to be that levamisole is best but if you have similar probs getting hold of it this may work for you too. Horrible little things...

Cheers

levamisole might be considered good, but it is not approved in this country for use in aquariums hence the problem getting hold of it.
Much better, cheaper and more easily available is Flubenol 15, that treated my rams with camalanus worms a while ago, although its not snail or shrimp friendly, so remove them fron the tank first.
Its available on ebay, the net and a few specialist discus sellers also stock it although not many LFS will sell it
