can anyone suggest a really good camera preferably under £100? although i got a camera about 3 years ago for £100 a concord or something and its rubbish - but when i got it i never used it so maybe its that its just aged or something

it has to be one bought from a shop though rather than ebay or something because im prone to getting faulty things so need to be able to return it easily enough when the problem happens.

I think you will need to spend more than 100 quid if you want a good camera.
If you want a good point and shoot camera you will need at least to double your buget. If you want a good quality camera with full manual controls you would probably need to spend around 400 quid.

Here's good website that should point you in the right direction based on your budget. Just page down to the digital cameras that are under £100:)
I'm afraid I can't personally recommend one as I have one that's far more expensive, however you will definitely find something nice to suit your budget.
My preference on "brand" for your price band would be Canon, Olympus and Fuji.

I'll give you a very handy tip though. Do some research online and find the best price. Then print out that page with the online price and take it into a shop like "Jessops". They do a price match, but do not openly advertise this (to my knowledge) - and they will price match for you. That way you can have a substantial saving (I save over £100 this way !!) and you get the added benefit of a high street shop

Edit: you obviously cannot expect them to price match eBay or something dodgy ;)

I just had a quick look and you can get a lovely 3.2 megapixel Canon Powershot A400 for £99 (whereas it's £130 at Jessops)

And use Kelkoo.co.uk to find the cheapest one, once you have a specific make and model in mind.

I disagree. I bought a lovely 2MP Canon for my sister and that was only about £100 and it suits her needs absolutely fine. It's a perfect little point and shooter Digital Camera. Obviously however you get what you pay for and if you want something more advanced with more features etc. and better print quality, you'll have to up your budget. But to be honest, £100 will get a nice basic point and shooter.

(edit: this was over a year ago and price has since come down and megapix increased. A 2MP Canon is a lot less now).

I disagree also. Well this depends on what you call "really good". what you can afford (not everyone is loaded) and what you need it for. You can get a decent 3mp Fuji for £100 on the dot.

I took the original question to be "as good as you get" within the budget :)

So we agree then - you can get a nice (but basic) point and shooter for £100 on the dot ;)

thanks everyone :)

maybe i could think about a second hand one on ebay.

basically i just want one that i can take pictures of my tanks.

but after that i wont need it. so maybe i could buy one then return it lol. or just borrow one.

normally i just get those disposable ones with free processing!

Don't bother going second hand for the price class you're talking about. Also, I'd be very cautious buying second hand electronics on eBay. I've been burnt before - and I'm an eBay PRO !!!
