Does anybody have experience of treating these parasites? I think my two rams have them. Everything I read about treating it usually goes along the lines of "I tried X...it didn't work". I've only just noticed them and would like to try and catch it before it spreads. UK available treatments please.

Don't know if this is available in the UK. Levamisole. It will kill the worms and you may be able to save the fish if you dose immediately. Are there worms hanging out of the anus of your fish? That's a sure sign. Sorry to hear about this, it's an aquarist's worst nightmare :/

Best of luck!

Yeah, a couple of tiny red spikes on each. It's just the two bolivians as far as I can tell. But I've had them about 6 weeks and this is the first I've seen of them. They're eating fine and growing well. I refuse to let this spread!

Hi I am having the exact same problem now!
This is my thread on it.

I am currently waiting delivery of the Levamisole, to treat my tank.
Have a read through it should answer most questions you have at the moment.

Thanks

Nice one, thanks! I just this weekend changed from gravel to sand and gave the tank a good clean, so hopefully that got rid of anything lurking in the substrate. Some of my neons and corys were the first tropicals I got years ago, would hate to lose them after all this time.

I've ordered a bottle of the Harka-Verm - I'll be back when it arrives to ask how much to use! Hopefully they'll still be alive in a week or so...

Seramed Menatol works. I used to treat Camallanus. Quite expensive, but I got mine on eBay.

I ordered my bottle off of Amazon. But I am still waiting delivery of it. It has being 7 working days now. I have contacted the seller, hopefully you don't have this issue.

Also you will find even though you changed the gravel, it will be back, as the parasite spreads so quickly, this is why you treat the whole tank, not just the fish.

Good Luck!

So I have my bottle of harka verm. It's an 8% solution (80mg/ml) so how much should I use for a 180 litre tank?

I'm suddenly quite worried this is going to kill all my fish!
