Hey everyone,

Here is my new planted tank, I have decided to keep this one nice and simple unlike my previous tanks which could only be described as jungles.

Specification;
Opti white brace-less tank 90x45x45 (using 10mm glass)
TMC 1500 Ultima LED tiles x 2 (powered by 2 TMC aqua ray controllers with storm function)
Tetra Tec EX1200 External Filter
Hydor 300w Inline Heater
Eheim skim 350 (running for 2 hours during the night)
Clear acrylic inflow/outflow pipes

Co2 Equipment;
Fire Extinguisher Co2 set up, 5KG cylinder pressure adjustable regulator and solenoid
Double check valve bubble counter
Up inline atomizer (using an intank atomizer at the moment whilst the inline is cleaned)
Glass drop checker

Substrate;
ADA Aquasoil

Hardscape;
Landscape Rock

Plants;
Hemianthus callitrichoides
Blyxa japonica
Ammania sp Bonsai

Fertilizer;
Tropica Plant Growth Specialised Fertiliser
Seachem Flourish Excel
A fully programmable automatic dosing pump is in use

Fauna;
50 Crystal Red Shrimp
8 Microdevario kubotai (Green Rasbora) will be increased to 30 when I can source some more

Story so far;
It is early days and the HC is slowly spreading, should look nice once it has covered the whole substrate, once it does I will add some hair grass round the base of the rocks. Ammania sp Bonsai is starting to show its face from behind the rock on the right hand side.

Unfortunately whilst flooding the tank with water the hill that the middle rock was sat on collapsed! it should have been set higher up and to the left, where it is now is the best I could do and I am happy with it which is the main thing.

I was planning on running 2 x Ex1200 filters on this tank but the flow seems good with just the one at the moment, if it turns out to be a problem I will add the second, or see if a power head will suffice.

looks nice, cant wait until it grows in

Looking good. I can empathise with the jungle thing. I think it's caused by a desire to get results quickly and therefore a need to have stem plants. Maybe the crypts have cured you of it.

Thanks Mike, the HC will take a while to fully carpet but once it has it will be nice.

So true, it is nice having just a few types of plants rather than dozens of different types. Stems are great but grow to quickly for my liking.

good Iwagumi of some sorts!

Well I did my best to try and keep away from an Iwagumi style, mainly because I just can never get the rock placement right. Please don't look at this as a poor attempt at an Iwagumi

great tank. i love the rock in the middle.

Thanks, that rock is one of my favorites, if only it would have stayed on top of the hill I built for it. Wouldn't be so much in the middle then, o well cant have everything we want lol

it shouldent take to long, maybe a month or 2 in that tank

Small update just to keep the journal ticking over.

5 days growth since last picture and the HC is spreading faster than I thought it would. The Ammania sp Bonsai is growing at a fair pace. Filter pipes need a good clean which I will do at the weekend. Finally still trying to source more Green Rasboras but to no avail

Very True, I have only ever kept these fish in open top tanks and have not had a jumper yet!! They must have a bit of common sense
